Creation Care Day Concert to be Held on 77 Steps
The Southwestern College Green Team is hosting a Creation Care Day concert from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. This concert is free to the public and will be held on the campus of Southwestern College on the 77 steps below the Christy Administration building.
The Praise Team from Asbury Church in Wichita will put on the concert and Pastor Joe Skillen will speak about the role of being stewards of God’s creation.
“This concert will be a fun way to praise the Creator and be outside in his creation,” says Jason Speegle, director of Green Team Southwestern. “With Easter and Earth Day approaching, I believe that it is important to focus on God as creator and sustainer of our planet and all that it contains. It is also important to understand what God expects from us in terms of caring for His creation.”
Green Team Southwestern will also be collecting old cell phones to be recycled through an organization called Plant My Phone. Plant My Phone receives old cell phones and safely recycles the parts or refurbishes the phones and sells them. Money received from the cell phone goes toward planting trees. If you have old cell phones, bring them to the concert and the Green Team will have them recycled.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Wroten Hall.
