Joe Wood, Head Women's Soccer Coach, Shriwise Apartment Manager, Swimming Instructor, Assistant Pool Manager, & Lifeguard Instructor; with this many hats to wear I rarely find time for hobbies. When I do manage to have a spare minute or two, I most typically hop on my motorcycle for a trip around Winfield via county roads with an occasional trip to Colorado. On that note, I truly enjoy to travel. My favorite trip so far was backpacking through Europe (a gift to myself following my graduation for my SC's Master of Business Administration Program). Of course, the majority of my time was spent in Germany, the host for the 2006 World Cup. I also frequent Colorado a couple times a year to ski, snowboard, and/or rock climb. During the summers in Winfield, I can most commonly be found pool side or at the Winfield City Lake. I have spent the majority of my life in Winfield, Kansas (home of Southwestern College). I moved here as a child and lived here through my graduation from Winfield High School in '01. I then attend Allen County Community College in Iola, Kansas until I earned my associates degree. During this time I spent one in Colorado and the other summer living in a farm house while working at a dentist office by day and hauling hay by night. I then moved back to Winfield to attend Southwestern College where I have remained ever since, minus a summer in Oregon thru SC's marine biology program. My advice: Measure twice, cut once! College Attended: Allen County Community College (Fall ' 01-Spring '03-2 yrs.) Associates in Science Southwestern College (Fall '03-Spring '05-2 yrs.) Bachelors of Science Southwestern College (Fall '05-Spring '07-2 yrs.) Masters of Business Administration Family: Mother & Father - too young for my own just yet! Hobbies: motorcycle riding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, traveling. I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities What was your latest read: Winning Every Day by Lou Holtz What is something interesting that no one else would know about you? I spent a summer in college rock climbing thru various regions Colorado. Who did you want to be like when you grew up: Dentist What is your favorite sport to watch: Soccer - silly question Who is your all time favorite college/pro team: Houston Dynamo Years at SC: Student 4 years, 3rd year as a coach Favorite SC event: Cross Country Home Invitational Meet - most years there is only one a year, so there is a lot of build up to return the favor to our most noticeable game time supports during the soccer season Favorite SC Tradition: Ugly Man rather than Homecoming King Most memorable event at SC: As a student athlete - junior year, double over time, with rivals Friends University, torrential rain, Men's Cross Country Team ran around the game field cheering none stop the entire game with chests painted. Favorite spot at SC: Soccer game field with the SC in stones in the background or top of 77 steps during a sunset |
