Besides my SC Leadership students, I love middle schoolers! Currently, I happen to live with a middle schooler but if that wasn't enough, I also teach 6th grade Sunday School. I like their young minds that can think about bigger ideas than they have ever been able to comprehend. I like their energy and their willingness to allow me to connect with them. Growing up in the Kansas City area, I never thought I'd be one to live in a barn but I do! My husband, Martin, and I have moved, reassembled and restored a peg barn from the late 1890s. We have beds in lofts and beds in the old grain storage bin, bathtubs surrounded by tin and sinks in barrels. We use half of it as a Bed & Breakfast. I don't think I'll ever like living on a dirt road but I love the dark nights with the sky full of bright stars. My favorite pastime is reading biographies. I'm not too picky on the subject of the bio. Last year it was the Beatles and John D. Rockefeller and this year it is Al Capone and General Trujillo. I also love going to see movies at the theater. My advice: always read the book before you see the movie. |
