About Me:

I enjoy reading spy thriller novels (e.g. Tom Clancy etc.) and historical novels (e.g. Ken Follett etc.) for fun. In addition playing recreational volleyball and tennis are enjoyable, though I should add that I am a VERY mediocre (and over-the-hill) athlete. I enjoy watching various SC sports groups perform, and especially the men's and women's basketball teams.

I go to as many of our home basketball games as I can possibly get to. I might add that I got my M.A. and Ph.D. graduate degrees in history at KU, and while I was doing that I became a big fan of the Jayhawk men's basketball team (these divided loyalties are not a problem for me, since the Moundbuilders never play the Jayhawks). At any rate, Go Moundbuilders! I might add that I also have fun playing bridge and chess, although I'm not too good at either activity. There was a time when I could stay up all night doing either of those two things, but I'm afraid that's in my past.

Perhaps I should add that I enjoy teaching a wide variety of courses- in anthropology, statistics, and general education in addition to history. That means I get to know a bigger cross-section of the student body in addition to our history majors, and I enjoy working with all kinds of people. I enjoy the prospect of going to work every day and continuing to learn new things, so I appreciate the chance to get to know our students in reasonably- sized classes. I want to thank the students for their allowing me to participate in their lives.
