Athletics and Activities

Whether you're interested in sports, theatre, music, debate, or almost any form of extracurricular event, someone at Southwestern College shares your interest.

A member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, Southwestern College offers intercollegiate participation in men's basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, and track and field, and women's basketball, cross country, volleyball, golf, soccer, tennis, softball, and track and field. Moundbuilders are supported by outstanding cheerleading and pom squads.

Performing arts events include theatre and music of all types. Students participate in all facets of theatre from their first days on campus, presenting major productions in four different theatre spaces. Music groups, both vocal and instrumental, range from classically-oriented groups to jazz or contemporary Christian. Theatre and music groups are open to students from all majors, and professors encourage majors from across campus to participate for the love of the art.

SC's outstanding service learning programs have earned national notice, with Leadership Southwestern named the outstanding leadership program in the nation. Both Leadership Southwestern and Discipleship Southwestern were chosen for inclusion in the John Templeton Honor Roll of Character-Building Colleges, recognizing superior programs.

Extracurricular activities in communications encourage students to participate in all forms of communication-oral (debate, forensics), written (college newspaper and yearbook), and broadcast (television and radio).
