Winfield, Kan., March 7, 2002 — Several Winfield
natives are among the ten Southwestern College students who have
had papers chosen for presentation at the annual conference of the
Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago and at the Great
Plains Psychology Association in Emporia.
Those presenting in Chicago include Hanna Wolcott
and Emily Ledford, Winfield; Heather Robb, Mark Shrewsberry, Marla
Berthot, and Tasha Doty, Arkansas City; Emily Swingle, Zenda; and
Caryn Huslig, Ellsworth. The students will attend the conference
in Chicago May 2-4.
Those presenting in Emporia include Mark Shrewsberry
and Nathan Swink, Arkansas City; and John Hathcoat, Wagner, Okla.
The regional conference will be held in Emporia March 22-23.
“In order to get into graduate school, our students
need this type of experience,” says James Nolan, SC assistant professor
of psychology and sponsor of the students. “This isn’t a requirement
for psychology majors. They have chosen to do it for their own benefit.”
