Winfield, Kan., April 11, 2002—Ryan Rising, Winfield, a senior at Southwestern College, has been awarded the Rev. Dr. Robert P. Price II Fellowship. The award is for $1,000 and is given to students interested in teaching. Price’s son, R. Preston Price, awarded the scholarship to Rising saying, “ (Rising’s) skills, gifts, and character are of the highest caliber. He shows great promise for teaching.”

Born in 1909, Robert P. Price was a teacher and was given his first job at Southwestern College. This helped him to refine his ability to teach and deepen his understanding of his teaching as ministry. His life and witness are celebrated in his hundreds of students and those who seek to teach, according to his family.

Rising is a senior at SC majoring in philosophy and religion, with an emphasis in philosophy. He is the son of Charles Rising of Sperry, okla. Rising is originally from Winfield.
