Winfield, Kan., April 22, 2002 — The Southwestern College undergraduate academic symposium, EASL (Explorations in Arts, Science, and Letters), will be held on the main campus Wednesday, April 24, in Beech Science Center from 1 to 5 p.m. The annual event celebrates the intellectual and creative achievements of students and faculty.

A reception will open the event at 1 p.m. in the Deets Lobby, upper level of Beech Science Center, followed by a series of oral presentations in Beech 104 at 2 p.m. Research posters and other projects will be displayed in the hallways of Beech. Presentation topics include:

· “Twentieth Century Mathematics” oral presentation, 2 p.m.; Karen Adams, Winfield; Missy Lungren, Caldwell; Amy Schanbacher, Udall; Collin Stucky, Newton; and Heng-Ping Ting, Malaysia.

· Psychology undergraduate research oral presentations II, 2:30 p.m.; Tasha Doty, Arkansas City; and Hannah Wolcott, Winfield.

· “A History of the Flute” oral presentation, 3 p.m.; Karen Wilder, Winfield.

· Psychology undergraduate research oral presentations II, 3:30 p.m.; Mark Shrewsbury, Arkansas City; Caryn Huslig, Ellsworth, and Emily Swingle, Zenda; Marla Berthot, Arkansas City, and Emily Ledford, Winfield; Nathan Swink, Arkansas City, and John Hathcoat, Wagoner, Okla.; and Heather Robb, Arkansas City.

· Evolutionary Family Trees poster, students in Genetics and Evolution.

· Science undergraduate research posters, Rachel Copeland, Wellington; Ali Wait, Sublette; Pam Brown, Preston; Kristin Kraemer, Salina; and Carina McGowan, Arkansas City.
