Founders Weekend

Founders Weekend is a great opportunity to celebrate the many things that make Southwestern unique and outstanding.  This year, we are honored to include the inauguration of President Brad Andrews, among the many activities.  We hope you will be able to attend one or more of the events.

Thursday, April 14

10 a.m. Dedication of presidential pavers and tree planting ceremony, Cole Mound Plaza

4 p.m.  Inauguration of Bradley J Andrews, 19th President of Southwestern College, Richardson Performing Arts Center

5:15 p.m.  Inauguration reception, Deets Library


Friday, April 15

12 noon  Reception in honor of First Lady Trish Andrews, Deets Library.  Exhibit of photographs by Trish Andrews will be available in the library from 4/12 through 4/17

2 p.m. Book presentation, Why Do We Need the Virtues for Reading Scripture, by Jacob Goodson, associate Professor of Philosophy, held in Deets Library.   A book signing will follow the presentation.

5:30 p.m.  Leaders in Service Hall of Fame for the Social Sciences unveiling of plaques followed by dinner & induction ceremony, Deets Library.  Cost $20, limited seating, RSVP necessary to

8:30 a.m.  Open House, Darbeth Lobby to view Fine Arts Hall of Fame and display in the President's Gallery

9 a.m.  Fine Arts Hall of Fame brunch on Callison Stage in Richardson Performing Arts Center.  Cost $15, seating is limited, RSVP necessary to  At 10 a.m., the induction ceremony will begin in Richardson Performing Arts Center and is open to the public with no reservations needed.

6 p.m.  Founders Day Dinner, Roy L. Smith dining hall, by invitation only.  New inductees to the Heritage Society, persons who have made provisions for Southwestern College in their estate plans, will be recognized. 

8 p.m.  RPAC Presents, John McCutcheon in Concert with South Kansas Symphony, Richardson Performing Arts Center.  Cost $22.50 adults/ $20 alumni/ $15 children, and $10 for children of alumni.  To order tickets call 620-221-7720.
