Emphasis in Education
Southwestern College now offers the opportunity for teachers to earn a Master of Arts in Music (Emphasis in Education) while maintaining full-time jobs.
This 33-hour program provides graduate students with the advanced education, skills, and credentials to enhance their teaching skills.
The sequence of courses will complement your career as a music teacher, and can be tailored to your schedule preference:
- Flexible to meet your own needs and interests.
- Cost competitive with regional music education master’s programs at $347 per credit hour.
- Online with the exception of private lessons.
- Can be completed in four summers, in one dedicated academic year, or over five years.
- Provides music educators advanced study in music content areas to improve their teaching skills.
- Provides four options for final project — graduate recital, lecture/recital, report, or thesis.
The Curriculum - 33 hrs.
The curriculum is designed with the flexibility to allow each student, in consultation with an advisor, to develop a program that fits the needs and interests of individual students.
