New Faculty and Staff at Southwestern College

New faculty and staff at Southwestern College were introduced during the employee welcome back dinner held on Aug. 8.
New faculty include:
•    Tanzil Khan, assistant professor in early childhood education.  She has a doctoral degree in organizational leadership from Pepperdine University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from California State University, Long Beach.  She has been a lecturer in the School of Education at the University of California, Irvine.   
•    Kari Nilsen, psychology professor.  She holds a Ph.D. in community psychology from Wichita State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in history, also from WSU.  
•    Brian Pekarek, assistant professor of education in curriculum and instruction.  He has a doctorate from Kansas State University, a master’s degree in school counseling from Kansas State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University.  He had been working as a superintendent of the Ashland School District. 

New staff members at Southwestern include:
•    Brae Wood, director of Leadership Southwestern. She served as Leadership team coordinator from 2008-2010.  Wood has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master of arts in specialized ministry from Southwestern College. 
•    Kirsten Guidero, scholar with the Institute for Discipleship.  She is pursuing a Ph.D. at Marquette University and holds a master of arts in theology from Wheaton College Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago.
•    Britany Morgan, technical director for the TOMARI Center.  She recently received her bachelor’s degree from Stephens College and has been working as a dance instructor in Valley Falls. 
•    Justin Williams, director of international student services.  Williams is a 2011 graduate of Southwestern College.  He had been teaching sixth grade students in the Derby School District. 
•    Rev. Ben Hanne, campus minister.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a master’s degree from Iliff School of Theology.  He has recently been the pastor to the First United Methodist Church in Stafford.  
•    Kyle Pond, head men’s soccer coach
•    Ryan Richardson, assistant men’s soccer coach
•    Sinead Byrne, assistant women’s soccer coach
•    Elishia Andrada, athletic training graduate assistant
•    Tobias Boese, assistant track and field coach
•    Vaine Lutz, financial aid counselor
•    Ben Klinger, assistant football coach
•    Nate Justice, assistant football coach
•    Jeff Kontz, assistant football coach
•    Corey Gray, assistant football coach
•    Brandon Owen, graduate assistant football coach
•    Mandy Watson, athletic training graduate assistant
•    Kitra Terrell, administrative assistant for financial aid
•    Senta Sellers, reference and instruction librarian
•    Kristi Perkins, lead teacher at the SC Learning Center
•    Kevin Lynum, assistant women’s basketball coach
•    Rodney Marner, assistant men’s basketball coach
•    Britt Bradley, director of marketing and communications for the Institute for Discipleship
