Homecoming 2015 Events at Southwestern College

Southwestern College will celebrate 2015 Homecoming Friday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 18.  Numerous activities have been announced.

“Homecoming excitement has an extra boost this year because of the arrival of new Southwestern College President Brad Andrews,” Lowe says.  “In addition to having several new family fun activities, this year’s weekend gathering also includes an award to Scott Schoon, as recognition of the partnership between Southwestern and Winfield Recreation Commission, and a special tribute to SC alumna Donna Homan DeMint ’80 with a quilt exhibit and award at the Friday night dinner.”

Friday’s schedule includes:
•    Quilt exhibit. President’s Gallery in Darbeth Fine Arts Center will feature a special quilt exhibit in memory of Donna Homan DeMint ’80. The display may be viewed from Friday through Sunday afternoon. 
•    9 a.m. to 5 p.m.— Moundbuilder Market open
•    10 a.m.— Jinx Invitational Golf Tourney, Quail Ridge Golf Course.  Contact Brad Sexson at (620) 229-6161 to register.
•    12 p.m.— Class of 1965 Welcome Luncheon, The Eatery at Millington Place, 124 E. Ninth.
•    2 to 4 p.m. — Come and Go Alumni Reunion hosted by the SC business division at College Hill Coffee, 403 Soward St. 
•    2 to 5 p.m.— Registration for class reunions in the Christy Administration Building lobby.
•    3:30 p.m. —Ribbon cutting and dedication of new aquaria, Beech Science Center with Julie Fuquay ’15. 
•    4 to 5 p.m.—Lifetime learning session.  “How to Become a Better Listener,” presented by Tracy Frederick, Mossman 102.
•    5:30 to 6 p.m.—Meet and greet President Brad Andrews, Java Jinx. 
•    6 to 7:30 p.m. — All class Homecoming dinner, Roy L. Smith dining hall.  Honorees this year are Ambassador Award recipient, Scott Schoon/Winfield Recreation Commission; Young Alumni Award recipient, Warren Bergquist ’05; Alumni Award recipient, Scott Hecht ’90; and Servant Leadership Award recipient, Donna Homan DeMint ’80.  Donna’s family will accept the award on her behalf. 
•    8 p.m. — High Jinx Campus Players Homecoming Variety Show, Richardson Performing Arts Center.
•    9:30 p.m.  — Bonfire and pep rally, north end of the grass soccer field.
•    10 p.m.—Campus Players and theatre alumni party, Roger and Allyson Moon’s house, 1606 Fowler.

Saturday’s schedule includes:
•    7:30 to 9 a.m. — Pancake breakfast by SC Enactus club at the American Legion.  $5 for adults, $3.50 for children under 12, free for ages 0-4. 
•    9:30 a.m. — Homecoming parade, Main Street between 15th and 10th Street.  Parade marshals are President Brad and Trish Andrews.
•    10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Alumni registration, Stewart Field House foyer.
•    10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Rock painting at the Mound with George Lowe ’74 and Teresa Bevis-Yeoman ’80. Face painting on the Deets Library lawn with the SC cheerleading and dance teams.  Children’s scavenger hunt at the aquaria in the Beech Science Center.  Family Fun with Camp Horizon on Deets Library lawn with Joel Wilke ‘07/’08.  Sunflower Espresso mobile coffee/pastry shop with Kate (Hutchins) Clause ’05.  Alumni band rehearsal in Darbeth Rehearsal Hall.  Gallery exhibit and performing arts reception, Darbeth Fine Arts Center. 
•    10:30 a.m.—Computer science, English, and communications reunion brunch, lower level of the Christy Administration Building. Contact Cindy Stevens, (620) 229-6293 to RSVP.
•    11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Homecoming picnic, Stewart Field House, $6 per person, $3 for children under 6.
•    11 a.m.  -  Dedication of the F. Joe Sims Studio, Darbeth Lobby.
•    11 a.m. to 1 p.m. -  Say Cheez Photo Booth, Stewart Field House, props provided.
•    11:15 a.m. – Outreach Worship Service, south patio of Roy L. Smith Student Center.
•    11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – President’s Luncheon for 51+ years alumni, Country Club. 
•    12 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Moundbuilder Market open
•    12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.—Professional class photos, King Plaza. Photo times (class photos will be done separately by class):  noon – classes of 1965, 1970, 1975; 12:15 p.m. – classes of 1980, 1985, 1990; 12:30 p.m. – classes of 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010.
•    1:15 p.m. – Class reunion gatherings, Jantz Stadium.
•    1:30 p.m. — Homecoming football game vs. Bethany College.
•    5 p.m. — Class of 1965 reunion photo, Winfield County Club, 2916 County Club Rd. 
•    5:30 p.m. — Class of 1965 reunion dinner, Winfield County Club. 50-year gala celebration.

•    6 p.m.—Women’s soccer alumni vs current students, Jantz Stadium.

Sunday’s schedule includes:
•    9:30 a.m. — Alumni breakfast buffet, Roy L. Smith dining hall, $7 per person.
•    10 a.m.—Class of 2010 farewell breakfast at Hunters Café, 1020 Manning.  
•    10:50 a.m. — Homecoming worship service, Grace UMC, Rev. Nick Warner ’70 guest speaker.
•    11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday brunch buffet, Roy L. Smith dining hall, $8 per person.
•    Noon – Class of 2005 farewell sack lunch at Island Park.
