About Southwestern

Southwestern College is an independent college that serves about 2,000 students each year.  Founded in 1885, it is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The college’s residential campus is located in Winfield, Kansas, and serves 650 undergraduate and graduate students.  The college’s Professional Studies program, based in Wichita, Kansas, serves roughly 1,300 adults learners who complete undergraduate and graduate degrees at satellite sites and online.  The college’s Carnegie Classification is Master’s M (medium).  The college offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

A dynamic and nimble institution, the college’s enrollment has doubled and its revenues have tripled since 2000.  Effective institutional advancement efforts have supported significant enhancements of college facilities and increased scholarship support for students.  The recently completed Great Performances Campaign secured funding for a new college stadium complex and the creation of a campus performing arts center.  Both annual giving and total giving have roughly doubled in the past decade.  For the recently ended fiscal year total giving topped $4.3 million.
