The moment has arrived. The newly-renovated Richardson Auditorium is ready. When the first baton is raised and the first notes resonate across a sea of familiar faces, the transformation will be complete and a new era for performing arts will take flight.
As for the South Kansas Symphony, we are keeping a few of our traditions. We strive as always to provide musical memories for you, our audience, and to offer a variety of music for all ages. Just as the ensemble itself draws from the best of the collegiate and public communities, we welcome three area conductors to the podium and enrich ourselves with their talents. In all this, we hope the new acoustically-crafted hall transports your listening experience to another level.
Our youth symphony has undergone a transformation of its own. This fall we begin with two ensembles in order to serve more than 80 young musicians. In this, its sixth season, the SCYS is spreading its wings, extending the symphonic experience to emerging musicians at younger grade levels and welcoming two new conductors to serve these groups.
As parts of the Southwestern College system, the South Kansas Symphony and the Southwestern College Youth Symphonies are non-profit groups funded by Southwestern College and by the generosity of individual and corporate sponsors, contributions by alumni and friends, grants, and ticket sales.
