Two Southwestern College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) students earned top awards at the state competition in Emporia.
Elizabeth Smith, Rock, and Robyn Peariso, Arkansas City, competed against students from Emporia State, Central Christian, Butler County, Cowley County, Colby Community College, and Labette Community College.
“As sponsor for the organization, I am extremely proud of the performance of our two students who competed in the state conference,” says John DuPuy, chair of the business division at Southwestern. “I think it speaks well of their personal drive and focus and is a good reflection on the level of education made available at Southwestern.”
Smith earned first place awards in financial analysis and decision making and in marketing concepts. She earned second place awards in accounting for professionals and in accounting analysis and decision making.
Peariso earned second place in job interviews and third place in future business executive.
Both have qualified to represent Southwestern College in competition at the National PBL conference in Nashville, Tenn., July 9-12.
