* Note: Students much complete a Speech and a Theatre “experience checklist” prior to graduation. It is in the best interest of the student to begin working through this checklist as soon as possible.
1 Alternately may enroll in this course in a subsequent semester (prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program) if necessitated by scheduling constraints.
2 General Psychology (a required course for admission into the Teacher Education Program) may also be used to satisfy the General Education Disciplinary Elective in the area of Social Science.
3 All remaining General Education Disciplinary Electives should be carefully selected in order to ensure meeting course requirements in the areas of Natural Science, Humanities, Other Cultures and the Arts.
4 Refer to Four-Year Plan relative to applicable licensure area for suggested sequence of content area courses. (Note: Some adjustment to prototype format may be necessary due to prerequisites and/or course rotation considerations).
5 EDUC 216 requires 20 hours of field-based observation in a diverse school setting. This course can be taken any semester prior to student teaching.
6 Enrollment in this course is open only to those students who have been formally admitted into the Teacher Education Program.
7 Students are required to take 2 hours minimum (2 semesters) of this course. Students are, however, encouraged to continue their participation beyond the required semesters.
8 EDUC 438: It is in the best interest of the student to take this course in the fall along with COMM 401.
This course must be taken in the fall since debate is only offered in the fall semester in Kansas High Schools.
