Education
Admission to Education
Students seeking admission to the teacher education program must first demonstrate their readiness by completing the following requirements:
- PSYC112 - General Psychology with grade of C or better.
- EDUC218 - Developmental Psychology with grade C or better.
- Sophomore standing with a GPA of at least 2.5.
- Demonstration of communication skills by completion of LAS 110 Writing Across the Disciplines, LAS 120 Research Across the Disciplines, and SPCH102 Introduction to Public Speaking with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA in the three courses.
- Successful completion of Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) with scores that meet or exceed the state requirements in the Reading, Math, and Writing sections.
- EDUC150 Introduction to Education with grade C or better.
- EDUC215 Foundations of Education with grade C or better.
- Submit formal application to Education Committee. (see application).
- Peer Jury Interview
Transfer Students
Transfer students seeking admission should complete the following requirements:
- Transfer credit that meets the requirements and standards above, including GPA requirements.
- Successful completion of Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) with scores that meet or exceed the state requirements in the Reading, Math, and Writing sections.
- Articulation of additional pre-professional credit as determined by the Director of Teacher Education and the Registrar.
- Submission of formal application to the Education Committee.
