Health Science

Students in science classroomSouthwestern College’s health science major offers students a solid foundation in the natural sciences while preparing them for a variety of careers in the healthcare field in both clinical and research settings. The required coursework provides classes in all of the diverse academic disciplines required for admission into competitive medical education programs while also allowing specialization in a variety of subjects relevant to different health careers such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine and athletic training.

The health science major offered by Southwestern gives students the opportunity to interact with professionals from a variety of medical disciplines as well as top educators. The coursework provides lecture and discussion in key content areas as well as hands-on experiences in the laboratory and field that are essential to success in healthcare related careers. Students are encouraged to further their education through practica and internships that offer experiential learning opportunities.
