The Community Music School (CMS) at Southwestern College is pleased to present a percussion recital by professor Jeremy Kirk on Monday, April 21, at 6 p.m. in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern College. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.
Kirk is an award-winning percussionist, educator, and composer who was called “a Paganini of percussion” by percussionist Kevin Webb. Another percussionist, Casey Cangelosi, describes Kirk as “a diverse and balanced percussionist with wonderful beauty and fluidity.”
Kirk has performed with country singer and songwriter Sara Evans and has also performed with groups such as Manheim Steamroller and the Huntington Symphony Orchestra. He is a sponsored artist, educational consultant, and endorser of Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, Mapex Drums, Majestic Percussion, Remo Drumheads and World Percussion, and Black Swamp Accessory Percussion.
The recital will feature the world premiere performance of Kirk’s newest composition titled “Upacara,” for multiple percussion.
The recital is part of the CMS’s Faculty Recital Series, which has already presented a harpsichord recital by James Leland of Grace United Methodist Church.
