2004 Summer Theatre Workshops
Grades 9-12

Train with Professionals
At Southwestern’s summer theatre workshop, students work alongside members of the famed Horsefeathers and Applesauce professional theatre company as they present the hilarious comedy GREATER TUNA.

Besides the professional actors, musical directors, directors, choreographers, designers, and technicians who are H&A company members, you’ll work with outstanding Southwestern College faculty members: Allyson Moon, managing director of the H&A Summer Dinner Theatre program and associate professor of speech and theatre at Southwestern College and Roger Moon, director of theatre at Southwestern and associate professor of speech and theatre.

Create and Perform
If you act, sing, dance, or are a theatre technician and are somewhere between ninth and twelfth grade (fall 2004), this workshop is for you. You’ll be provided with the opportunity to advance your knowledge in the following areas of your choice:

Musical Theatre Performance Scenic, Property, and Lighting Design
Acting Technique Costume and Make-up Design
Playwrighting Development Publicity and Promotion Design
Directing and Stage Management Process  

Live the life

  • Monday, June 7, between 8 and 10 a.m. you’ll move into a Southwestern College residence hall.
  • Thursday, June 10, you’ll be the guest of H&A for both the dinner and show at the comedy GREATER TUNA.
  • Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. you’ll present a showcase of your work. Through both video and live performance your week with H&A will be showcased for family, friends, and the H&A regional audience.
  • Saturday, June 12, between 4 and 5 p.m., you’ll check out following the showcase.

Invest in Your Future
Your registration fee of $275 pays for a double room in an SC residence hall for five nights, three meals per day, instruction by H&A professionals and Southwestern College faculty, insurance coverage, supplies, and a dinner and theatre ticket to the H&A production of GREATER TUNA.

Registration is due May 24, 2004. If space is available, late registration will be accepted through June 4, 2004, on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be held to a maximum of 40.
