Collected Stories: Elk County
Lenoard F. KimzeySubmitted by Ricky L. KimzeyMy father, Leonard F. Kimzey, taught in one room schools in Kansas for 10 years. His first year (I believe 1932-33) he taught at Border which was located close to Longton in Elk County. Then, he taught for six years at Crum school which was just over the line into Chautauqua county from Longton, then he taught two years at Elk Valley which was also in Elk County and close to Longton. He taught one more year before entering the army during WW II. He passed away last year at the age of 85. I received a sympathy card from a former student who had him in the first grade. She remembered him as a very loving and caring teacher. |
