Sharpe (District 96)

The school was located about seven miles NE of Burlington

Students ranged from 12 to 18 in attendance from 1932-1940. Teachers: 1932-33 Herbert Cobb, 1933-1935 Edith Laughery, 1935-1936 Latha Laughery, 1936-37 Wanda Scharff, 1937-1938 ?, Hazel Kough 1938-1940+. The building had no electricity and heat was by a coal burning stove tended by the teacher with help from the older students. On cold days the stove would get red hot and shake and rattle from the flames. Building also served as a church on Sunday.
