Look what the Ruggles saw in 2001!!!
In our children lives
Peter finished Middle School in May and moved up to the High School in August. Yes Peter is a freshman this school year. He really likes high school and is learning French so when he sees his friend John, he can talk to him without his mom knowing what he is saying. In Awana, Peter finished his 6th handbook and received the Meritorious Trophy. He is now doing the high school handbooks working toward the Citation.
Ruth finished 7th grade and is now an 8th grader at the Middle School. She enjoys school including playing her clarinet. She played volleyball this last fall and really improved her skill in setting. In Awana, Ruth finished her 5th handbook and received the JV plaque. Her goal for this year is to finish her 6th handbook to receive her Meritorious Trophy.
On our 3rd Mission Trip
In March, Steve and Veva, 6 others from our church and 2 from outside our church headed to Jamaica on a Work Mission Trip. Our Awana Club sponsors an Awana club in Black River. We went down to help them put in a cement slab for Awana Games and other things. Some highlights for them were:
* Working along side of Jamaican to build the cement slab.
* Participating in our adopt-a-club at the Black River Baptist Church's Awana Club twice.
* Experience the People and their lifestyle in Jamaica since they stayed with the families from the churches.
* Eating several different kinds of food and really enjoyed the favor.
* Seeing God's creation and its beauty.
Thanks to all you who helped us by praying for us and sending gifts. Without you it would have been impossible for us to go. If you want to see pictures of our trip Check out the following web sight: http://www.sckans.edu/~ruggless/christ01.htm
On our Family Trip back East
Our family was able to tour our great country that God has blessed us with to the East. We saw great wonders that God has created like:
- Water - Niagara Falls, three of the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean where we went swimming even though it was 70 degrees.
- Land - 16 different states & Canada. We put over 4000 miles on our car.
- Animals - panda bears in the Washington DC Zoo.
We saw a lot of man made wonders like:
- In Chicago we saw the Awana Headquarters and the Sears Tower.
- In New York City we saw the Statue of Liberty and climbed to the crown. We even went to Ellis Island and saw Veva’s grandparents name on the Wall of the American Immigrate Wall of Honor.
- In Philadelphia we saw the Liberty Bell, US Mint, & Betsy Ross' House.
- In Washington DC, we went on tour of the White House and the Capital building. We saw the Lincoln and Washington Monuments and toured the Arlington Cemetery where we watched the changing of the guards.
- The best part of the trip was seeing friends and family especially the Rule Family in New Jersey at the reunion.
