Homecoming 2010 Events at SC

Southwestern College has numerous events scheduled as Homecoming 2010 approaches.

Friday’s schedule includes:

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. —Southwestern Moundbuilder Market (campus store) open.
• 10 a.m. —  Jinx Invitational Golf Tourney, Winfield Country Club
• 1 – 3 p.m. — Richardson fire discussion; Alumni, community, and students visit about the Richardson fire and the crisis of 1950, Messenger Recital Hall/Darbeth Fine Arts Center
• 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. — Registration for class reunions in Pounds Lounge. See specific class Homecoming schedules on the alumni website for times of individual class registrations.
• 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. — Professional class photos, Pounds Lounge.
• 3 and 3:30 p.m. — Campus tours, Pounds Lounge. Student Ambassadors will give campus walking tours.
• 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. — “All Class Homecoming Dinner and 125th Anniversary Kick-off,” Stewart Field House. Master of ceremonies, Jim Farney ’53; Invocation by Carl Martin ’60. Recognition of 50 yr class, 51+ alumni, reunion year Class Hosts, SC Trustees. Alumni Award: Tom ’59 and Mari (Waite) Wallrabenstein ’60, Young Alumni Award: Brian Robinson ’05, Ambassador Award: Jeff and Stephanie Weeast. 
• After Dinner — Auction of 125th Anniversary Quilt, Roger Lungren ’62, auctioneer.
• 8 p.m. —  Kaleidoscope Concert, Richardson Auditorium
• 9:30 p.m.  — Bonfire and pep rally, north end of the soccer field.

Saturday’s schedule includes:

• 8 a.m. — Alumni registration, Pounds Lounge.
• 8 a.m. — Jantz stadium tour. Hosts: Ken Crandall, Dave Denly, Mike Kirkland, Mike Farrell.
• 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. — Come-and-go continental breakfast and open house at the new SC Learning Center on 120 W. 12th Street.
• 9 a.m. — Ribbon cutting ceremony at SC Learning Center, 120 W. 12th St.
• 9 a.m. — Classes of 1985 and 1990 gathering, Daylight Donuts, 910 Main
• 9 a.m. — Class of 1960 trolley loading for parade, First United Methodist Church parking lot, 11th and Millington.
• 9:30 a.m. — Homecoming parade, Main Street between 15th and 10th Street.
• 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. — Rock painting at Cole Plaza and the Mound
• 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Professional Studies reception and service members reunion at Deets Library. Highlights from this reunion will be webcast at www.mounbuilders.com
• 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  — Homecoming Picnic, Stewart Field House.
• 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — President’s Luncheon for 51+ years alumni at Winfield County Club.
• 12 to 12:45 p.m. — Ice cream cones, Farney Plaza.
• 12:30 p.m.—Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the Farney Family Plaza (South Plaza area between Stewart Field House and White Physical Education Building).
• 12:40 p.m. — Class reunion gatherings, Jantz Stadium
• 12:50 p.m. — Dedication of Richard L. Jantz Stadium and pre-game festivities. 
• 1:30 p.m. — Homecoming Football game vs. Ottawa University.
• 4 to 5 p.m. — Communication and English reunion, come and go in Christy Administration Building lower level. This includes alumni involved with Moundbuilder yearbook, Collegian newspaper, Jinx Radio, SCTV, The English Journal, and debate.
• 4 to 5 p.m. — Builder Nation Party for 0-4 alumni (classes of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), Sutton Lobby.
• 5 to 8 p.m. — Child care services, Grace UMC. Reservations required and walk-ins accepted if space allows.
• 5 p.m. — Class of 1960 reunion photo, Winfield County Club, 2916 County Club Rd.
• 5:30 p.m. — Class of 1960 reunion dinner, Winfield County Club. 50-year gala celebration.
• 5:30 to 7 p.m. — Class reunion gatherings. Bring your old college photos and memorabilia for reminiscing. (For full details on class reunion activities, check the Homecoming website for specific class).
• 8 p.m. — Theatre Production, “The Richardson Fire Project,” Richardson Auditorium. For tickets, call (620) 229-6272.

Sunday’s schedule includes:

• 9:30 a.m. — Alumni breakfast buffet, Roy L. Smith dining hall.
• 9:30 a.m. — Class of 1980 at friends brunch/worship, First United Methodist Church, 10th and Millington. Brunch followed by worship with guest speaker, Paul Wilke ’80.
• 10:50 a.m. — Homecoming worship service at Grace United Methodist Church.
• 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday brunch buffet, Roy L. Smith dining hall. No reservations necessary.
• 1 to 3 pm. — Historic Homes Tour featuring College Hill homes from Southwestern’s early years, with front porch narratives. Tour tickets are available at any of the featured homes. For tour schedule or more information, call (620) 221-4379.
• 3 p.m. Theatre production, “The Richardson Fire Project,” Richardson Auditorium.
