5:30 p.m. Southwest National Bank Reception

Reception with the Spirit of Kansas Mural: Southwest National Bank 400 E Douglas Wichita, KS. Reservations appreciated to or 620.222.1135.  

A reception honoring the first commissioned mural of Arthur Covey’s completed in 1915, which depicts Native Americans, farmers, and pioneers. The three panels named Promise, Fruition and Afterglow are on display in the bank lobby where they were re-hung in 1975.

Thursday, April 20

6:00 p.m. Campus Reception & Exhibition Premier

Reception and Exhibition Premier: The Strohl House (Welcome Center) A reception to open the showing of the Arthur S. Covey collection of art titled The Spirit of Kansas. A new look at a collection that has inspired generations of Moundbuilders. Docent guided tours of the collection will be held across multiple campus venues and an artist talk presented by Mr. Ronnie Jenkins   

Saturday, April 22

9:00 a.m.  Fine Arts Hall of Fame Brunch

Fine Arts Hall of Fame brunch on Callison Stage in Richardson Performing Arts Center.  Cost $15, seating is limited, RSVP necessary to or 620.222.1135.

10:00 a.m. Fine Arts Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The Fine Arts Hall of Fame induction ceremony will begin in Richardson Performing Arts Center and is open to the public with no reservations needed.

2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Guided Tours

Docent guided tours of The Spirit of Kansas exhibit of the Covey Collection at Southwestern College. Begin at the Welcome Center (Strohl House.) 2 – 3:30pm, come and go.

April 20 - May 13

The Spirit of Kansas - an exhibition of portions of Southwestern’s Arthur S. Covey Collection found in locations across campus and will be open to the public during regular business hours from April 20th to May 13th. Begin your experience in the Strohl House (Welcome Center.)
