Leadership Southwestern in Search of Homes for Freshman Work Day

Leadership Southwestern is in search of houses and non-profit buildings that they can work on for the annual Freshman Work Day on August 7.

Freshman Work Day is one of the final days of Southwestern College orientation for the incoming 2022-23 freshmen class. All freshmen head out into the Winfield community to work on homes and non-profit buildings that need repair, painting, cleaning, or yard work. This event creates a positive change and outcome on an individual and local level. Freshman Work Day was started by the Leadership program in 1992 with the goal of establishing positive relationships between Southwestern College and the community in Winfield.

Leadership student Cierra Harrison, along with Caitlin Estrin, and Coye Campbell are in search of homes and non-profit buildings that can be worked on.

“If you, or someone you know, lives or has an organization/company in the Winfield community that has a job for the freshman and volunteers, please contact us for more information or any questions,” Harrison says.  “This includes repairs, painting, cleaning, and/or yard work that would take at least a couple of hours. Our goal as a Leadership team is to have at least 18 sites for the incoming freshman and volunteers.”

For more information or to request the services of the incoming freshman, contact Brae Wood, director of Leadership Southwestern, at (620) 229-6393 or email Harrison at cierra.harrison@sckans.edu.
