Awards Handed Out at Honors Convocation

Several awards were announced recently at the Southwestern College Honors Convocation.

Masterbuilders for the 2022-2023 academic year at Southwestern College were announced.  The honor of Masterbuilder is given to graduating seniors who best typify the spirit of Southwestern.  The Student Government Association (SGA) initiates the process for naming Masterbuilders by calling for each SGA member to nominate students.  The list of students who receive votes are then submitted to a faculty vote.  Finally, the entire student body votes, choosing recipients from the names remaining on the list.

Masterbuilders for 2022-2023 include: Jasmin Hauska, Munich, Bavaria, Germany; Caleb Worsham, Medicine Lodge; Landon Davis, Winfield; Dalton Ward, Claremore, Okla.; Odyssey Mann, El Paso, Texas; and Joshua Carter, Wichita.

The Dawn Pleas Leadership in Student Affairs award was presented to Odyssey Mann. The award honors a student who has participated within the student affair’s programs of student government, student foundation, and resident assistants.  The criteria is based on the student’s personal growth, responsible citizenship and leadership through service.

The SGA presented their staff citations.  The winners were Pat Ross, professor of biology, and Brae Wood, director of Leadership Southwestern.
