South Kansas Symphony to Present Halloween Pops Concert

The South Kansas Symphony (SKS) will begin its 2018-2019 season with the annual Halloween Pops concert “Symphonic Sci Fi” this Sunday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m., in Richardson Performing Arts Center.

This performance is sponsored by Phil and Mary Jarvis.

According to Amber Dahlén Peterson, conductor of the SKS, the concert celebrates music of science fiction movies and television. The concert will conclude with a special collaboration between the symphony and the Southwestern College A Cappella Choir and Choral Union, performing Eric Whitacre's “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!”

Tickets for this performance are $8 for adults and free for all children, Southwestern College faculty, staff, students, and youth symphony members. They will be available for purchase at the door or in advance through the performing arts office by calling (620) 229-6272. Treats and door prizes will be awarded and the audience is encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.

Season tickets will also be on sale, which will include all regular SKS and Southwestern College Youth Symphony performances for the 2018-2019 season. They are $50 for adults and $25 for children (5-18 years old). Season ticket holders have reserved seats for most of the concerts.
