Homecoming
2000
It was rhinestone tiaras and Jell-O snarfing,
mariachi music and beating Bethany (again). It was a weather forecast
that threatened rain then delivered wonderful fall weather. It was Homecoming
2000, and hundreds of Southwestern College alumni and friends gathered
to Live It Up @SC Oct. 13 and 14.
From the Homecoming parade (where biology
students constructed the winning float urging viewers to "Live It Up
at the Beech") to the new events for kids, planners structured events
to appeal to all ages. Special guests, the members of classes ending
in "00" and "05," ate, reminisced, and heard music from their own eras.
Alumni programs director Susan Lowe and event manager Nan Hinson even
arranged for the Winfield trolley to carry alumni through the streets
of Winfield.
Mark your calendars for next year-Homecoming
2001 will honor classes ending in "01" and "06." It's set for Oct. 19
and 20, and promises to be spectacular.
