Richardson Fire Captured on Film!

Donald "Don" Drennan ('52) was asleep the night of the fire in the family home at 1715 Janes.  The light of the fire awakened his mother, whose bedroom faced towards College, and she, in turn, woke up Don.  Don, who was then a Southwestern freshman, majoring in math, rushed up to the school and began filming the fire with his father's 8mm camera.  He appears to have caught the blaze at its high point.  The fire footage was taken from the bottom of the 77 steps.  While running only a few minutes, it is excellent, capturing the intensity and destructiveness of the conflagration.

A special thank you to Don Drennan for allowing us to use his film footage to create this video.
