The Southwestern College Department of Mathematics
is a learning community dedicated to:

Mathematics and Mathematics Education, preparing students for careers in both
education and industry.

other academic disciplines by providing introductory mathematics and
statistics courses.
Here are some careers that will be open to you after obtaining a
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics.
Education - You can
be certified as a high school math teacher or continue your education to teach
mathematics at the college and university level.
Business and Industry
- You can continue your studies at the graduate level in areas such as
statistics, bio-statistics, applied math, computer science or actuarial studies
for jobs in business, industry or government.
Law - Students with a
math background have a good acceptance rate into law school programs.
Economics - Graduate programs in economics appreciate students with a
bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Many economists have undergraduate degrees in
mathematics.
Engineering – If you combine your mathematics degree with additional coursework in Physics,
you could complete an Engineering degree in as little as one year.
Computer
Science - An area that is well suited for
graduate work for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in
mathematics.
