2. Apply for Admission
Complete and submit the online application or download a physical application, print it, and send it to our offices.
- Spring deadline to apply is December 1.
- Fall deadline to apply is July 1.

3. Send Official Transcripts
Have the official transcripts of all high school and/or college credit translated into English and sent to the Southwestern College Office of Admission. High school transcripts should include class rank, grade point average, and grading scale whenever possible.

4. English Proficiency
Submit proof of English proficiency by sending scores from one of the testing options below. Minimum score requirements are listed next to each test. The TOEFL code number for Southwestern College is 6670. If applying for English proficiency through other means, forward documentation such as transcripts accompanied by an explanation to the Office of Admission for review.
Scores to Demonstrate English Proficiency:
- TOEFL PBT – 60
- TOEFL iBT – 70
- IELTS – 5.5
- SAT – 950
- ACT – 18
- PTE Academic – 45
- Study at another U.S. college or university – 24 transferrable semester credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
5. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
Forward two letters of recommendation, translated into English, from teachers or professors who are familiar with your academic ability.
6. Personal Statement
Write a 500-word statement that explains why you want to study at Southwestern College, why you want to study your particular program, and how your degree will help you accomplish your future goals.
7. Certification of Finances Form
Complete the Certification of Finances Form documenting amounts of financial support from sources other than Southwestern College. If sponsored by the student’s home government, send a certified letter indicating amount of support and billing information.
8. Deposit, SEVIS Fee
Southwestern College requires a $1,000 deposit before it can issue an I-20. This deposit will apply towards tuition and fees. If for some reason the student does not attend SC, $900 will be refunded. International students will be required to pay a $200 SEVIS fee to obtain a visa at the embassy. This is not a Southwestern College fee, but a United States government fee.
9. Form I-20
Upon confirmation of the SEVIS payment and Southwestern College deposit, a Form I-20 will be issued to the student.
