Bio

M.Mus., University of Northern Iowa

Mr. Schmitz taught in the public schools for several years before accepting a jazz studies assistantship at the University of Northern Iowa. While there, he founded and directed the Cedar River Jazz Band, an elite high school jazz ensemble based in Cedar Falls, IA. Mr. Schmitz has been active in composing and arranging music for jazz ensembles and has conducted numerous clinics in the public schools.
