SC Graduate George Lowe to be Honored by the Kansas Coaching Association
George Lowe, a 1974 graduate of Southwestern College, will be recognized by the Kansas Coaches Association (KCA) on Tuesday, August 5.
Lowe has been named by the KCA as the Kansas Coach of the Year. In addition, Lowe will be recognized for his 50 years of coaching.
Lowe has coached or taught in his home state of New York as well as in Turon, Haven, Winfield, Douglass, and Burden. For the past three seasons he has coached junior high girls basketball at Central of Burden where, for the last two years his teams have gone undefeated and have been South Central Border League champions. In addition, he has been a steady volunteer for USD 465 Winfield.
The award ceremony honoring Coach Lowe will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 9 a.m., at the Salina Fieldhouse, located at 140 N. 5th Street. The event will be held during the KCA session that morning on court one. Friends, family, and community members are invited to join in celebrating Coach Lowe's outstanding achievements and enduring impact.
Lowe and his wife, Susan, a member of the Class of 1995 and retired director of alumni programs at Southwestern College, live in Winfield.
