The Southwestern Office of Safety and Security supports a safe environment in which all members of the college can pursue their academic endeavors.  Open 24 hours a day, the staff responds to lock outs, requests for assistance, potential criminal incidents, suspicious activity, and emergency situations.  Safety and security officers regularly patrol buildings, classrooms, sports facilities, residence halls, and grounds by foot and vehicle.  Additional functions of this department include campus escorts, motor vehicle registration, lost and found property, and reporting damage and/or theft of personal or college property.  

Location: The Office of Safety and Security is located on the top floor of the Sutton Center in the Student Life Office.

Annual Safety, Security, and Fire Report: The annual security and fire safety compliance document is available at  If you would like to receive a paper copy of the combined annual Safety, Security and Fire Report which contains this information, you can stop by the Student Life Office or request that a copy be mailed or e-mailed to you by writing to or by calling 620.229.6391. The website and report contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by SC; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by law and is provided by The Office of Student Life at Southwestern College.

Campus community concerns and incidents may be submitted online or through the Student Life Office.  All submissions will remain confidential unless you choose to provide your information.  Submissions are sent directly to the Lead Security Officer and Associate Vice President of Student Life.  For imediate attention please call safety and security or in emergency situations call 911.
