SC Professor to Offer Free Sessions in Eastern Philosophy and Yoga at the Winfield Public Library
Southwestern College assistant professor of mathematics Roshan Adikari is offering a series of follow-along yoga sessions designed to explore Eastern Philosophy every Friday in June and July at the Winfield Public Library’s community room. There is no admission charge and the public is encouraged to attend.
Beginning Friday, June 6, from noon to 1 p.m., Dr. Roshan will lead participants in yoga intended not as an exercise class but as a pathway to quiet the racing mind and cultivate inner peace through mindful awareness. Prior experience is not necessary and all are welcome.
“Whether you're seeking mental clarity, spiritual growth, or simply a peaceful break from your routine, these gatherings offer a welcoming space to learn, reflect, and connect,” Roshan says. “Yoga is a spiritual tool kit to go deep into one's own self and understand depths of every religion including Christianity, Islamic, Hinduism Buddhism, Taoism, Non duality, and etc.”
Roshan offers regular yoga sessions in Deets Library at Southwestern during the school year. Originally from Sri Lanka, he comes from a tradition of varied spiritual practices. In addition, he has practiced several martial arts since childhood. For the past 10 years, he has been a spiritual seeker.
