Noah ShedNoah Shed, a Southwestern College junior, is entering his second year as a student ambassador. Originally from Dallas, Texas, he is involved in the Discipleship program and the men’s basketball team, while actively seeking leadership opportunities across campus.

Shed is committed to being a servant leader on campus and in the world; that focus motivated him to become a student ambassador. He was inspired by his own student ambassador, while on a visit to Southwestern. He recalls her hospitality and care, despite the fact that he was running behind schedule and arrived to campus a little late.

“She stayed and gave me the tour, she had great energy, was really into who I was as an incoming student, and really made everything feel comfortable,” Shed said.

“I wanted to give people that same feel and be that light for other people.”

Shed chose SC for close connection and ample support. The coaches, professors, and his supporting cast at Southwestern made him feel known and wanted, rather than just a number.

Shed has made many memories during his time at SC, his most recent favorite being the men’s basketball win against #3 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan.

“Our win against OKWU, seeing the guys getting a win against a very good team, being a part of that from the outside, seeing the guys grow throughout the year, and getting a really good win to put ourselves in a better position for the national tournament,” Shed said.

Shed loves being in the admissions office every day, meeting prospective students and their parents, sharing laughs, and having serious conversations about what makes Southwestern so special.

He doesn't think of the position as just a job and looks forward to spending time with the admissions team — who have been a great support to him and his growth.

“I come to them when I am happy or sad, and by the time I leave I am good...I cherish that feeling,” Shed said.
