Collin Schrader is entering his first year as a Southwestern College student ambassador. 

A Southwestern junior and Communications major, Schrader wants to show off the school he loves and help people make their college decision. 

Originally from Oologah, Oklahoma, Schrader chose Southwestern for football, but was also drawn by its small town feel and community. 

“I chose it mostly for football,” Schrader said. “I am from a small town, so I am kind of used to that, growing up in a small town and the community.”

Schrader is very involved on campus. He is a key part of the football team. He is a Resident Assistant for the freshman boys, the Vice President of Community and Recruitment for Student Foundations, and a Student Ambassador. 

Schrader is a key part of building community and recruiting for the Student Foundation, which aims to create meaningful experiences for all moundbuilders at Southwestern College. Schrader plays a key role in bringing the student community and Winfield community together through campus wide events. 

Schrader has had a lot of cool experiences while at SC, his favorite being the football’s first playoff win at home in 40 years last year. 

“When we won our playoff game at home, it was really cool, and amazing to be a part of that experience,” Schrader said. 

“It was cool to be able to show off the school I love and try to get them to come here, " Schrader said about his decision to become a student ambassador. “Being able to help people with their decision and talking about why they want to come here is so cool.”

Ultimately, Schrader loves SC for the community and its people, taking every opportunity he can to show off SC as a student ambassador.
