SC Volleyball Team Joins GUMC Members to Install New Floor

Several members of the Southwestern College volleyball team performed community service at Grace United Methodist Church (GUMC) in Winfield.

According to Lora Andrews, pastor at GUMC, the volleyball team spent 90 hours putting in a new hardwood floor on the first and second floors of the education wing at GUMC.  Some church members also assisted with the project. 

Head volleyball coach Carolina Garbato organized the volunteer work under the leadership of Bruce Blake.  

SC VB GUMC 2“We at Grace are so grateful for the team’s hard work and dedication to helping us improve our building,” Andrews said.  “This is the second time the team has helped us install a new floor, as earlier this year they helped install the tile floor in the basement. They are great workers and we are grateful for the ways they invest in our community and give back to Winfield.”

Along with Garbato, team members who volunteered included: Kayln Beel and Colbi Phillips, El Dorado; Tiana Nice, Goddard; Hanna White, Baxter Springs; Deardin Kelley, Carl Junction, Mo.; Kanami Ellis, Round Rock, Texas; Brianna Wiemers, Gilbert, Ariz.; Rylie Ingram, Cibolo, Texas; Catabrean Baumann, Tulsa, Okla.; Lezlee Dixon, Bedford, Texas; Lyxi Blaker, Aledo, Texas; Gabrielle Terry, Springtown, Texas; Amanda Pinter, Bella Vista, Ark.; and Kiralyah Jones, Ontario, Canada.
