Harold’s career included 28 years as a Medical Technologist and 23 years in hospital management.  He graduated from Forest Park College, St. Louis, in 1975 with a degree in Medical Technology, and in 2000 with a master’s degree in management from Friends University. He entered healthcare to have an influence on people’s lives and to serve others. Harold has been married to his wife, Sue, for 51 years. They have two children, Paula and Kristy, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. His faith in God is most important to him as he says all that he has done would not be possible without God’s direction.

In 2025, Harold received the 45th Kansas Hospital Association Charles S. Billings award for outstanding service and distinguished contributions to the field of healthcare. He served on the KHA Board of Directors from 2019-2024, the KHA Workers' Compensation committee for two terms serving as the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, the KHA Strategic Planning Committee, the KHA PAC Steering Committee, the KHA Policy and Advocacy Committee, the Health Innovations Network, and the KHA Hospital Leadership and Governance Committee.  Harold received the American Hospital Association Grass Roots Award in 2023, and the KHA/AHA PAC MVP award in 2018, 2020, and 2023.

Harold was a radio sports broadcaster for 8 years in Pratt, Kansas, covering high school and college football, basketball, and baseball. The most important thing for Harold is developing a culture of excellence and is most proud of the culture he helped create at Memorial Health System in Abilene, Kansas. He spent the last 14 years of his career as CEO at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney for two years, Russell Regional Hospital in Russell for four years, and at Memorial Health System in Abilene for eight years where he started a Wound Center of Excellence. 2026 Business Builder Award

Main Street Games - LogoMain Street Games. Jacob McGuire, graduate of Southwestern College in 2012, entrepreneur, and father.

McGuire opened Main Street Games in 2016 in Winfield, Kansas. Provides guests a safe and inclusive place to laugh, have fun, build friendships, develop lasting love, and be themselves. Providing an environment for people to play together, and a plethora of games and types of games to purchase and play. During it’s almost 10-year existence, Main Street Games has created groups for tabletop miniature games such as Warhammer 40K, role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, slot car racing, console games like Nintendo, Playstation, and Xbox, board games, and various card games like Pokemon and Magic the Gathering. Each game has brought new people into Main Street. The people are what make the store incredible, and keep it open.

The Winfield Skating Rink has been a staple of entertainment in the Winfield community for 70 years. Main Street Games was filling a void for the people in their 20s-40s to have a place, but the kids of Winfield didn’t seem to have a place to go. As the opportunity arose, McGuire revitalized the Winfield Skating Rink, and Main Street Skate was created. He brought one of oldest forms of Winfield entertainment back to life after sitting empty for several years. After being in business for almost 4 years and enduring many new and unique challenges, Main Street Skate continues the tradition of skating strong with opportunities for birthday parties, adult outings, dancing, special events, and many more imaginative ways to bring kids and families together.

Business Hall of Fame Members

Southwestern College alumni who have made significant achievements in the field of business are recognized annually in the Business Hall of Fame.  Since the inaugural year of 2002, many notable Moundbuilders have been honored by having their names placed in this Hall of Fame.  The actual display is located in the center hallway of Mossman Hall on the Southwestern College main campus.

The Business Builder Award is a recognition given to business leaders (not necessarily alumni) who have created jobs, supported community institutions, and through their hard work and civic contributions have made a lasting impression on the quality of life in their region.
