Two High School Seniors Chosen for Full-Tuition Scholarships

Natalie CharlesThe spring competition for full-tuition scholarships at Southwestern College has concluded, with two outstanding high school seniors selected as recipients. The competition targeted students interested in pursuing degrees in education or participating in the performing arts. Each scholarship is valued at approximately $170,000 over four years.

This year’s recipients are Natalie Charles, awarded the Education Scholarship, and Hailey Gardner, awarded the Performing Arts Scholarship.

Hailey Gardner“At Southwestern College, we value strength of character and academic purpose,” said Stephannie DeLong, vice president for enrollment management. “That commitment has led us to offer five full-tuition awards each year for first-year students in Education, Performing Arts, Natural Science, Nursing, and Accounting. These awards support our 2028 Strategic Plan by expanding high-impact learning opportunities for our students.”

Natalie Charles, a senior at Belle Plaine High School, is the daughter of Zachary and Cherish Charles. She plans to major in elementary education, participate in cheerleading, and pursue a career as a kindergarten teacher.

Hailey Gardner, a senior at Barnsdall High School in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, is the daughter of Dan and Aubrey Gardner. She plans to major in psychology, participate in performing arts, and hopes to graduate in four years and pursue a career helping others.
