Jim Hays (left), superintendent of the Kansas Veterans' Home in Winfield, received the Good Neighbor Award from Southwestern College President Dick Merriman during a community recognition dinner Aug. 30. The dinner was part of activities marking the start of the academic year. Merriman pointed out Hays’s consistent support of the college, specifically his cooperation during a problem with climate control of a residence hall.
