Dr. W. Richard Merriman, Jr. is in his 16th year as president of Southwestern College. He has served as vice president for institutional advancement of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, and as a program officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, D.C. He earned his Ph.D. in political science at Indiana University, and a B.S. and M.S. from Emporia State University in Kansas.
The administrative council of the college, working with the president, provides leadership for the operation of the college. The college has a stable leadership team that enjoys collegial and supportive working relationships. The vice president for institutional advancement is a member of the council.
Board of Trustees
The college’s Board of Trustees is active and is committed to the success of the college. It meets three times each year and does its work through its academic affairs, student life, facilities and technology, institutional advancement, and business affairs committees.
