The Kansas Athletic Training Society (KATS) has recognized four Southwestern College athletic trainers who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement.
The honorees include: Nathan Morrison, Osborne; Krystal Tyree, North Little Rock, Ark.; Rene Schwan, Salina; and Tory Dreger, Independence.
“These four students in our athletic training education program certainly deserve this honor from KATS. They work very hard in the classroom to earn the grades but also in the athletic training room to apply what they have learned,” says Lisa Braun, director of athletic training education at Southwestern. “These students represent our program well and set a high standard for the future athletic training students at Southwestern College.”
To be eligible for nomination, students must meet the following criteria:
• Nominees must be fully accepted into the professional phase of their athletic training education program.
• Nominees must be full time undergraduate students during both the fall and spring semester of the preceding academic year.
• Nominees must be submitted by program directors from CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) accredited ATEPs in the state of Kansas.
• Nominees must be rated by their program director at 4/5 or higher in clinical performance.
