Ambassador Profile: Anna Mankoski

Which professors have been your favorites? Why?

My favorite professor would have to be Dr. Jacob Negley. He is a great professor and he truly cares that you do well in his class and will do what he can to help you succeed. He has been a good mentor for me as I try to navigate through my last year here and he is a good person to converse with. It has been nice to have someone to talk who has gone through the same path that I have and has been able to succeed.

You know you’re at SC when…

You can walk across campus and see someone you know and when you are at your sporting event or activity and see other organizations coming to support not only you, but your activity. There is always someone to talk to on campus that can make your day better.

Why did you choose SC?

I grew up in Winfield, so SC was always down the road for me. I attended tennis and rotary camps all throughout high school, so I was always familiar with the campus. I was recruited to play tennis here and then I fell in the love with the campus and how beautiful it looked year-round. The atmosphere here is absolutely incredible. I love the fact that you can easily get in touch with your professor to meet with them about any problems you might be having in their class.

What would surprise your high school friends about you now?

I think my high school friends would be surprised on how involved I have become especially in things that I wouldn’t have seen myself doing in high school. I’ve really put myself out there and that’s not something I did a whole lot in high school. I’ve grown so much as a person and if they spent time with me now, then they would see just how much I have grown and I think it would surprise them.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I am involved in a variety of activities. I am majoring in psychology, so I am involved in both Pi Gamma Mu and Psych Club. I also work at an optometry office in town, so when I am not in class or at one of my many activity’s events I am typically working. When I am not working or doing anything tennis related I like to watch Netflix and hang out with my friends.

What surprised you about SC?

It really surprised me how much of a family we all are. The amount of support we all receive from one another is incredible. That support is carried in the classroom, during a game, activity, just about anywhere. Everyone here cares and tries to get to know you. I don’t think that would be the case at a bigger school.
