SC Business Department Restarts Enactus

The Southwestern College division of business has relaunched an Enactus team, supervised by Alleigh Allen.

“Enactus was restarted on campus because it offers a unique and valuable service to students,” Allen says.  “Through Enactus, students have the opportunity to be a part of an organization that is supported by Fortune 500 companies and partners from all around the world.  Real life business experience and supporting the local community are two of the biggest benefits.  The networking that students receive through Enactus is invaluable as well.”

Enactus is an international organization dedicated to enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. They provide a platform for university students to collaborate with business and academic leaders in the development of entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities. The quality and impact of the students’ projects are evaluated by leading executives through a series of regional, national, and global competitions. The Enactus experience transforms the lives of the students as they develop into entrepreneurially-minded, socially-responsible leaders.

Allen says that all students are encouraged to join.

“While Enactus is very entrepreneurially driven, we welcome any major,” Allen says.  “Something we pride ourselves on is diversity and welcoming different perspectives.”

Team members include Chandler Rich, president; Frank Rivas, vice president; Joshua Carter, vice president of membership; Ousman Betts, vice president of finance; Sydney Morris, vice president of marketing; Tori Sublette, vice president of communications; Daegiona Wilson, Travis Poppenhagen, and Heather Foltz.

Allen is hoping that the program grows at Southwestern College.

“Our hope for Enactus is to continual growth,” Allen says.   “We hope to pursue a wide range of projects that will help sustain and improve our community both on and off campus.  Helping set up our members for successful endeavors through a worldwide networking platform is also at the top of our list.”
