DeArmond Memorial Service Friday in RPAC

A memorial service honoring Dr. Bill DeArmond, who passed away on July 12, will be held on Friday, September 22, at 4 p.m. at Southwestern College’s Richardson Performing Arts Center (RPAC).  This service is open to the public.

DeArmond accepted a teaching position in 1978 at Southwestern College in Winfield. He went on to serve as faculty general manager for the college’s radio and television stations from 1982 and 1986, respectively, until 2005, in addition to serving as director of the broadcasting and film program. He also served as the chair of the communications department from 1995 until 2002. He taught a wide array of courses in his 45 years of teaching at Southwestern College, bringing his passion for film, television and broadcast media to the classroom and sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of domestic and foreign films and television with hundreds of students. DeArmond was awarded the Fassnacht Outstanding Faculty Award for outstanding service to the college in April of this year.
