Honors Convocation - CANCELED
4:00 p.m. in Richardson Performing Arts Center

We regret to inform you that the Honors Convocation is canceled. Arrangements will be made to recognize our Master Builders and Scholars of the College.


2020 Commencement Weekend is May 9-10, 2020.

Please read the following carefully and share this information with the guests you have invited to join you in your celebration.

Saturday, May 9, 2020

Commencement Rehearsal
9:00 a.m. in Richard L. Jantz Stadium

In case of inclement weather the rehearsal will be held in Stewart Field House. 


Sunday, May 10, 2020

Baccalaureate Service
9:30 a.m. in Richardson Performing Arts Center

  • There is no seating order for this service (you may sit with your friends and family).
  • Caps and gowns are not worn to the service.
  • All graduates and their families are invited to attend. 

Order of the Mound Ceremony and Receptions
11:00 a.m. at Cole Mound Plaza

  • Recognition of students graduating in the top 10% of the class and meeting guidelines stated in the college catalog.
  • Graduates will be notified May 8 and 9 if they qualify for this honor.
  • Caps and gowns are worn for this ceremony.

In case of inclement weather the ceremony will be held in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Building. 

Graduate Hooding Ceremony
12:00 p.m./Noon in Richardson Performing Arts Center

11:30 a.m.  Pick up name cards and line up in lower level of Christy Administration.

  • Caps and gowns are worn for this ceremony.
  • Hoods are carried on your arm until you are hooded on stage.
  • Line up order is by degree not major.

Procession to Richardson Performing Arts Center

  • Listen carefully to instructions given and follow the junior marshals.
  • The stage party and the faculty precede you in line. When you proceed to the seating area, sit down to be sure every chair is filled.
  • The junior marshals will cue you when it is time for your row to stand and proceed to the stage.
  • Graduate Hooding Ceremony photographs are being taken by Lifetouch. After graduation, order online at https://events.lifetouch.com or call 800-505-9496. An institutional gallery of images from Commencement weekend ceremonies will be available at www.sckans.edu/commencement.
  • You will be given two name cards—one card for the reader as you enter onto the stage; the second card should be given to the photographer’s assistant when your picture is taken with the flags after crossing the stage.
  • Return to your seat for the remainder of the ceremony.

In case of inclement weather the Graduate Hooding and Commencement ceremony will be COMBINED in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.

Commencement Ceremony

Commencement Ceremony (Undergraduate & Graduate)
2:30 p.m. in Richard L. Jantz Stadium

1:30 p.m. Pick up name cards and line up in Stewart Field House.

  • Caps and gowns are worn for this ceremony.
  • Line up order is by degree not major.

Procession to the east side of Stewart Field House

  • Listen carefully to instructions given and follow the junior marshals.
  • The stage party and the faculty precede you in line. When you proceed to the seating area, sit down to be sure every chair is filled.
  • The junior marshals will cue you when it is time for your row to stand and proceed to the stage.
  • During the commencement ceremonies, there will be a picture taken of you and the President and another of you in front of the flags. There will also be a designated area for family to take pictures of you should they choose to do so. Your name, address, and email address have been provided to Lifetouch. If you have not received your proofs within two weeks from the Commencement Ceremony, you may contact them at https://contact.lifetouch.com or by calling 800-505-9496. An institutional gallery of images from Commencement weekend ceremonies will be available at www.sckans.edu/commencement.

  • Return to your seat for the remainder of the ceremony.

Diploma Pick-Up

  • Undergraduate/graduates whose degrees have been conferred effective May 10 may pick up their diploma immediately after the ceremony in the Registrar's Office.
  • Those undergraduates/graduates who walk but are May 30 or August 30 graduates will be contacted by the Registrar's Office about diploma delivery.

In case of inclement weather the ceremony will be held in Stewart Field House.

12:00 p.m. Pick up name cards and line up in Stewart Field House, lower level. (Use east Football Complex entrance.)

  • Caps and gowns are worn for this ceremony.
  • Photographers will be available to take pictures prior to the procession to Stewart Field House.
  • Line up order is by degree not major

Procession to upstairs in Stewart Field House

  • Listen carefully to instructions given and follow your junior marshals
  • The stage party and the faculty precede you in line. When you proceed to the seating area, sit down to be sure every chair is filled.
  • The junior marshals will cue you when it is time for your row to stand and proceed to the stage.
  • You will be given two name cards—one card for the reader as you enter onto the stage; the second card should be given to the photographer’s assistant when your picture is taken with the flags after crossing the stage.
