SC Choirs to Present Fall Concert Nov.17

The choirs of Southwestern College will be presenting their fall concert, “Eat, Drink, & Be Merry,” on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., in Richardson Performing Arts Center. Admission to the concert is free, but canned goods donations to the Winfield Food Pantry are encouraged in lieu of a formal admission fee.

“This program features a cornucopia of concert selections across various genres, each with their own take on the idea of feasting,” says Simon Hill, director of choral activities and voice at Southwestern College.

Soprano Jordan Burford is looking forward to sharing this concert with the community.

“There is something for everyone,” Burford says. “All of our pieces are great, and all have something to offer and challenge us as musicians; this SC choir concert is one not to miss.”

Hill says that one piece that has become a standout favorite among the group is Sydney Guillaume's “Tchaka.”

“This piece truly shows the challenge of being part of a collegiate choral program,” says Lena O'Quinn, an alto of the choir. “I hope the audience enjoys hearing ‘Tchaka’ as much as we enjoy performing it.”
