Associate Professor of Education. B.S., University of South Dakota; M.A., University of South Dakota; Ph.D., University of Kansas

Dr. Christine Rogers received her Ph.D. from The University of Kansas, majoring in Special Education. She has been a kindergarten teacher and a special educator at the elementary and middle school levels. During those years, she discovered a passion for partnering with classroom teachers to provide inclusive special education services, reducing the stigmatization and segregation experienced by children with exceptionalities at the K-8 level. In furthering this passion, she began work with an educational management organization that partnered with public K-12 schools across the U.S. with the goal of providing a first class education for all students by eliminating the persistent disparity of academic opportunities for students living with socioeconomic challenges. This work stirred another passion, supporting K-12 teachers as they sought to provide excellent special education services for students broadly, and specifically in the endeavor to ensure that all students became readers. The work of educational professional development eventually lined up with her present faculty role at SC where she is Special Education Program Director, overseeing graduate programs leading to Kansas teaching endorsements in both high-incidence and low-incidence special education.
